Message from the President
2011

November, 2011

Dear Diggers and Weeders,

The 2011-2012 year promises lots of interesting programs, workshops and excursions.  Please consult the list of speakers and projects on this website for all the details.

Getting together with friends is an important part of why we join the club.  Learning more about gardening and flower arranging is another.  The easiest way to accomplish both is to take part in the many activities that the club offers each year.  Please join in whenever you can.  It is a great way to learn, make new friends and have fun, all at the same time.

Declining membership is a challenge that faces the club, that we will be discussing over the course of the year.  One solution is new members, so if you know women interested in any or all aspects of gardening, do bring them along to a meeting.  Joining is not the difficult procedure it used to be; a letter of recommendation, signed and seconded by members and sent to the Corresponding Secretary, gets the process underway.

Winter is a slow time in the garden but can be a fruitful planning time.  I’m working on a new planting scheme using lots of ornamental grasses.  What are you thinking about doing?  Please share your ideas and enthusiasm through the “notes from members” forum on this website.

Happy digging and weeding!

Pat Webster
